This craft tutorial has just 3 steps to make a fall-themed home decor with Dollar Tree supplies to decorate your kitchen or living room for Halloween. Thanksgiving, or just family gathering this fall.

The best part is that you can make quite a few of these Candy Corn Cones for fall holidays without spending much and set them up on the porch, too.

Candy Corn Cone Supplies

• Foam Cone (I got mine in the floral section of the dollar tree, they are under 2 USD apiece)
• Nautical Rope (Dollar Tree). Get the white one, so it is easier to cover up with colors!
• Scissors
• Paint Brush
• Hot Glue Gun (the one at Dollar Tree is like 3 bucks!)
• Chalk Paint (you can use regular craft paint you will just need more coats to get the coverage). I used white, yellow and orange to imitate candy corn colors! Of course, you can go with any other color, too 🙂

Instructions

Start by adding a line of hot glue to the bottom edge of the foam cone. Press the nautical rope firmly on top. Repeat this line of hot glue around the foam cone, pressing the nautical rope on top until you have fully covered the cone.

Note: if you want to hang it, I would insert a ring and fix it under the last piece of rope on top when you will be gluing it. You can use simple white ring or cute fall-themed ones (Dollar Tree already has them, they are 1.5 USD)

Once you have reached the top, trim off the excess and add some hot glue and press the nautical rope into the remaining section.

I then counted the rows and divided them up evenly to begin painting in candy corn colors, from bottom to top.

I applied 3 coats of the yellow, then 3 coats of the orange and finally 3 coats of the white chalk paint to cover the cone.

Allow the paint to fully dry before starting the next section. Rope is porous, so paint soaks up fast and can dry duller, so do apply a few coats!

And that’s it!

You can attach a ring on top if you’d like to hang it, or just set it up standing. Kids are more than welcome to decorate it with stickers 🙂

This DIY home decoration will be easy enough to make with older kids (they can definitely help with painting), while teens will be able to make this one independently.

I do believe that even crafty adults will enjoy it, as the design is simple. not childish and does fit a wide range of interiors and occasions during autumn, so why not?!
