Teacher Appreciation Apple Wreath

Last Updated on July 15, 2026 by Masha Eretnova

Teacher gifts get expensive fast (especially when you child loves everyone), and most of them end up in a drawer anyway! This apple wreath costs about $10 in supplies and takes 15 minutes to make, and it can work for classroom door or decorating front door of the teacher’s house!

This fall wreath uses loopy yarn and a wire wreath form. No knitting skills though (my kind of crafts hah). Kids can absolutely help with it, but also, it doesn’t have to be a teacher’s gift. You can easily turn it into a back to school or autumn decoration.

Cute, chunky, doesn’t look cheap or childish, so let’s make it!

Supplies To Make Apple Wreath For Teachers

  • 12 inch wire wreath form (you can use the larger one if you want as you will have enough yarn). I would buy a pack which will get you through fall and winter holidays (they are cheap)
  • Bernat Crimson Loopy Yarn or similar.
  • Wooden stick (found outside for the apple stem, engage kids for this task!)
  • Leftover leaf from flowers I had on hand. Artificial leaves will last the whole season. Some fake leaves look really good.
  • Hot Glue Gun (make sure you have spare glue sticks)
  • Wooden Piece. I got mine from Dollar Tree in their crafting section but most craft stores also carry these. I went with a standard oval one with bark for a rustic look, but you’re more than welcome to pick different shape! There are some shaped like butterflies or hearts (no bark though).
  • Sticker Letters. I got mine from Dollar tree but you could cricut these letters for the teachers name or most craft stores carry sticker letters. They cost more on Amazon but come in different fonts, too, like these ones.
  • Scissors

You can 100% make this JUST a fall-themed apple wreath without adding your kids’ teacher’s name. Or adding the words like Home, Fall, Welcome, and so on instead of the name.

Optional is also to paint the wooden piece. I LOVE texture and natural color of the wood, but if you wish, you can use white, orange, black, brown or darker yellow acrylic or craft paint for decorate it (same goes for words, you can easily paint them!)

Steps To Make Teacher Appreciation Apple Wreath

This cute and cozy wreath takes about 15 minutes to make from start to finish!

Step 1

Just using your hands, start by weaving the loopy yarn through the wires and then tie to secure. Wrap the yarn around the wire wreath form covering the entire wreath form.

Step 2

Using some hot glue add a line to the stick and press firmly to the backside of the wreath. Add a few leaves using hot glue to the stick on both sides.

Step 3

Add the sticker letters for the teachers name. First, lay them out to make sure the name is centered. Then, glue one by one.

If the wooden piece is not really smooth, I would recommend sanding it first or even applying a layer of gesso or simple white paint so the stickers hold better!

Step 4

To add the wooden piece, measure how you want it to sit on the wreath and add some hot glue to the backside where it will touch the wreath.

You could also hot glue some twine on and then tie it on the backside for a more secure hold.

And just like that, this gorgeous apple wreath for your child’s favorite teacher is ready!

This is how it can look on your door (adorable *squeak*)

When to make it?

Late August through September works best for back to school and Meet the Teacher night.

It also fits Teacher Appreciation Week in early May, and the apple shape carries straight through fall, so it stays on the door from the first day of school through Thanksgiving break – win win!
