15 Kids’ Witch Crafts for Hallowen

Kids can have so much fun making their own witches for Halloween, especially when they get to choose the colors, add silly details, and make each project their own. These witch craft ideas give them a chance to recreate a scary old witch, a cute one, or an iconic cone hat.

Toilet Paper Roll Witches

These Halloween holiday witches are made of toilet paper roll and colored construction paper. You will need glue, black and white marker and scissors.

1. Wrap toilet paper roll in black constuction paper.
2. Cut out a circle larger than toilet paper roll diameter for the hat bottom and a triangle with rounded bottom edge for the hat itself.
3. Cut out stips of orange paper for the hair: even number of long strips and short strips.
4. Cut out face out of green paper: free shape, can be similar to oval or strawberry. Cut out another strip for the nose.
5. Cut out long strip out of purple paper. And a square out of orange paper.
6. Assemble the hat: wrap triangle in a cone, glue together, then make small cuts every cm or so at the bottom of the cone, fold them upwards, add glue to the bottom of the cuts and glue the top hat to the black circle. Glue purple strip and orange square on the hat, cut excessive purple strip if necessary.
7. Glue face and nose and draw eyes and mouth.
8. Glue the hair: short above forehead, long on the sides. Wrap ends on the pencil to make curls.

Halloween Witch Wreath

You can make simple Halloween wreath with kids using yellow and black paper and jute.

Draw and cut out circular moon and black silhouette of a witch (you can grab printable here) and glue them to a store-bought jute ring (you can make one too, but you will need some wire or something to hold the shape, Dollar Tree often has wreath forms for dirt cheap).

Felt Witch

This cutest felt witch figure has a black dress and hat, orange fringe hair, a peach face with embroidered smile, and a small orange broom. She looks like she flew in right from Hogwarts!

You need black, orange, and peach/tan felt, black and peach/tan thread, a needle, scissors, and a marker or embroidery floss for the face.

Cut the body, hat, face, and broom pieces from felt, sew or glue the layers together, fringe-cut the orange felt for hair and the broom bristles, then stitch or draw the face details.

This Halloween craft is best for teens and older kids who already love sewing and working with fabric. Adults are welcome to try it, too!
