Looking for an easy reindeer craft your kids can make this winter? This 3D reindeer paper craft is simple enough for kids aged 6+, and it works great at home or in the classroom during the winter and holiday season.
Kids just print, cut, fold, and glue to build their own little reindeer that stands up on its own.
No expensive supplies needed and you don’t even need to draw a reinderr, you will be able to use my free printable.
Supplies To Make Reindeer Paper Craft
- Color printer
- Printed reindeer template (download below)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Optional, bone folder or something to score and fold paper to have clean lines.
Steps To Make 3D Reindeer Paper Craft
This paper owl is quite easy to make and doesn’t have lots of small details apart from “feet” that could puzzle kids.
Step 1: Cut
First, look at the printed reindeer and check the signs: glue stick and scissors. White flaps without any marks are for applying glue and folding too, do not cut them. Cut head and neck piece, too.
Go ahead and cut the craft along the bold outline, cut out blank oval spaces that form legs at the bottom of the craft:
Step 2: Fold
Score and fold reindeer’s body along the bold black lines and fold all the white flaps for gluing (with dotted lines), too.
The long piece needs to be folded, too. It is for the neck and it will create a hollow 3D square with colored part being the neck and white parts for gluing (one will be to glue the head and one to glue it to the body).
Step 3: Glue
Now we can start gluing the reindeer together. The easiest way is to flip it upside down, apply glue on the white flaps and kinda wrap the body parts around them, pressing the glued parts.
Step 4: Assemble the head & neck
Fold the neck, glue it, and glue one side to the head piece and one to the body where the glue label is.
And that’s it! This is how your final reindeer will look like:

Conversation Starters To Use With This Craft
You can ask kids questions about reindeer to guess or test their knowledge or make it “Did you know” format.
- Do boy and girl reindeer both grow antlers? Yes! Reindeer are the only kind of deer where the girls grow antlers too. Almost every other deer, only the boys have them.
- Do reindeer keep their antlers forever? No! Antlers fall off every year, and then brand new ones grow right back. Imagine if your hair fell out and grew back that fast!
- Can reindeer see colors you can’t? Yes! Reindeer can see a special light called ultraviolet. It helps them spot food and wolves in the white snow.
- What do reindeer eat in the winter? They dig in the snow to find a plant called moss. They use their hooves like little shovels. Can you dig like a reindeer?
- Do reindeer feet make a sound? Yes! Reindeer knees make a clicking noise when they walk. A whole herd sounds like clicking all together, so they can find each other in a snowstorm.
- How do reindeer stay warm in the snow? Every single hair is hollow and full of air, like a tiny puffy coat. Their fur even covers their nose!
- Can a baby reindeer walk right away? Yes! A baby reindeer can walk within an hour of being born, and it can run faster than you within a day.
- What is a baby reindeer called? A calf! Calves are born in the spring so they can grow big and strong before winter. Could you spell calf?
- How far do reindeer travel? Farther than any other land animal! Some reindeer walk thousands of miles every year to find food.
- Do reindeer noses really help them? Yes! A reindeer nose warms up cold air before it goes into their body. That’s how they breathe in freezing weather without getting cold inside.
