Step-By-Step Tutorial
This tutorial is kid-friendly but will also help adults to start drawing and painting!
The secret is to start from the hat and slowly build the face from the top.
Step 1: Draw the Fluffy Hat Trim

Start by drawing a long fluffy shape that looks like soft clouds or a caterpillar.
This will be the bottom part of the Grinch’s Santa hat.
Step 2: Draw the Santa Hat

On top of the fluffy trim, draw the main part of the hat. It looks like a triangle or a mountain that is leaning on one side. Add a round fluffy pom pom at the end.
Step 3: Draw the Head Shape

Below the hat, draw the Grinch’s head. Draw side by side and connect them at the bottom. Each side starts (from the bottom of the hat) with a small curved line, then three fluffy cheek hair and another line to form the jaw.
Step 4: Add the Face Details

First, draw the eyebrows at the top, leave some space and draw two wavy lines to make the cheeks.
Connect the brows and cheeks with two short rounded lines – they will make the eyeballs.
Right in the middle of the face, draw the small nose.

Next, add the big curved smile under the nose. Make it wide so it looks like the Grinch’s sneaky grin.

Then, add the smaller details. Draw the pupils inside the eyes, add short lines of the eyebrows to show that Grinch is frowning, and draw tiny curved lines on the cheeks and chin to show the smile.
Step 5: Color the Grinch’s Face

Start with a light layer of green without pressing too hard and color the whole face, then press a little harder on the edges and the furry parts to make the green darker.
This helps the face look more like the Grinch.
Step 6: Start Coloring the Hat

And for the Grinch’s hat, use red to lightly color the whole shape.
Keep your strokes soft so the first layer looks smooth and even.
Then press a little harder around the sides to make the red darker and brighter.
And that’s it!
