Let your kids pick the page out of 6 coloring pages they like best, then help them check the color key before they start.
As they match the numbers and color one section at a time, they’ll end up with a finished masterpiece you can hang up, share, or use as quick Cinco de Mayo decorations.

How To Use Coloring Pages With Your Kids

Step 1: Let your child choose a page

Start by letting your child pick the page they’re most excited to color. Tell them, “Choose your favorite picture!” When kids get to choose, they feel proud and more excited to finish it.
If your child is younger, help them pick a page with bigger spaces and fewer tiny sections. Bigger shapes are easier to color and less frustrating, so they can enjoy the activity from the very start.
Step 2: Find the color by number key on your page

Before you start, look at the bottom of your page. That’s where the color by number key is.
Each page can have a different key, so always check the one on the page you picked. Now match the numbers in the picture to the key, then color the spaces with the right colors.
Step 3: Pick your coloring tools
Choose what you want to color with.
Toddlers and preschoolers can use chunky crayons because they’re easy to hold.
Kindergarten and grade school kids can use crayons or colored pencils.
Older kids can use markers for bright colors. Put an extra paper under the page so it doesn’t bleed through.
Step 4: Color the spaces by number

Start with number 1 and color all the number 1 spaces using the color that matches number 1 in the key at the bottom. Take your time and finish every number 1 space first.
When you finish all the number 1 spaces, move on to number 2 and color all the number 2 spaces the same way. Then do number 3, and keep going in order until the whole page is completely colored.
Step 5: Finish your page, and show it off
When you finish coloring, check your page for any tiny spaces you missed and color them in. If you want to make it extra fun, add dots, stripes, or little stars to decorate your picture.
Now it’s showtime. Put it on the fridge, hang it on the wall, or use it as a Cinco de Mayo decoration. You can even give it to someone as a happy surprise.
You can print these Cinco de Mayo coloring pages as many times as you want to practice and color just for fun. Try different pages each time, or print the same page again and use new colors to make it look different.
